Jaguar Car Battery Installation: Step-by-Step

If you’ve picked up a new warranty-backed Jaguar battery at our Paramus parts department, you’re all ready to get started:

1. Turn off your engine, activate the parking brake, and pop the hood. Put on safety glasses and goggles, and grab your wrench. Then, loosen the nut connecting the black/negative cable to the battery.
2. Twist the cable and pull it off of the terminal. If it doesn’t come off right away, resist the temptation to pry it off using a screwdriver. Loosen it once more and try again.
3. Hold the black cable to the side, and then remove the red cable according to the steps found above.
4. Take a look at the battery box and find the hold-down clamps. Loosen them and remove the top of the case.
5. You’re ready to remove the battery, but be careful! It’s a heavy component, and dropping it could cause battery acid to leak.
6. Take a moment to remove any corrosion that may be present in the tray, clamps, or terminals. Then clean the cable connectors with the same anti-corrosive cleaning product and a wire brush. You can even spray this solution onto the new battery’s terminals before you hook up the cables once more.
7. Place the new battery into your Jaguar car or SUV’s battery case, then attach the battery cables. Make sure to attach the red cable first, and the black cable second.
8. Tighten the connecting terminals with your wrench. With the case closed and secured, do a quick inspection to make sure that the battery won’t move as you drive.
9. Get behind the wheel and start the car! If everything occurs as it should, you can be certain that your battery was installed correctly.
